Chief’s Message

On behalf of the dedicated men and women of the Madison Police Department, I wish to welcome you to the MPD web site. The Madison Police Department is dedicated to working with the community and surrounding agencies to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for those that live, work, or visit the Town of Madison.

The Madison Police Department is concerned with our ability to maximize resources while responding to the town’s needs. We routinely review operating procedure in an effort to increase effectiveness and tax payer satisfaction. We are however also bound by State, Federal and Case Law as well as industry standard. We encourage new ideas and have even made changes in response to community input.

We provide a number of non-enforcement related services to town. The Madison Police department has purchased new equipment to assist motorists who have locked their keys in the car. We are also available for security and welfare checks and delivering emergency messages and notifications.

We are very excited to be implementing the D.A.R.E. Program in 2008 and are considering other non-enforcement related activities with the youth of Madison. We have had several discussions with school officials and would be happy for any input from the community.

I invite your comments, questions, concerns, and suggestions regarding our department.  My Administrative Assistant is generally in the office Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays between 7:30 A.M. and 4:30 P.M. She makes minor schedule adjustments according to the level of activity and the job at hand. As with most departments our size, the Police Chief is part of the patrol force and there is often only one officer on duty at a time. We are dispatched by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and can be paged if we are not in the office.

Thank you for visiting the MPD web site.

Sincerely,

James Mullen

Chief of Police
